This is why you don't sleep with a cheater. All of you out there who thinks it's fun to cheat, or those of you who don't cheat at all but have the misfortune of being with a cheater. The more sexually active partners that you or your lover get with, the more chances of catching the following: Gonorrhea, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, HIV/AIDS, or Herpes. In a lab study where they actually reviewed the power of the condom (even latex condoms), with or without spermicide lubricant on it, it showed that it could be affective at preventing you from catching an STD but it could not absolutely protect you from such. In cases with Herpes, the last stages of Gonorrhea, HIV/AIDS, and the last stages of Syphilis there is only treatment for the symptoms. Although the bacteria/virus may lay dormant within the hosts body, it is still there. If it becomes active again (in Herpes, there's usually an outbreak at least once a year, although it can be so frequently that it never seems to go away), they risk passing it onto their partners during an outbreak. The outbreak does NOT actually require any signs. That's right - no blisters at all can STILL mean you run a risk of getting infected. If you catch Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis in time, you can both treat and cure it. However, if you wait too long, you can only cure it.
In most cases (50% to 90%, depending on what source site you look at), Gonorrhea shows abslotely no symptoms in women. It generally has about a half chance (50%) of showing any symptoms at all, and a half chance of showing no symptoms at all. Is it really worth your risk?
On latex condoms specifically, they are highly effective at reducing your risk of getting AIDS/HIV, only if used correctly and consistently. Once chance is all it takes.
It can reduce (note, I'm not saying how effective at reducing it is - they can't mention this) any "discharge" diseases, other than HIV. This means it can reduce the chances of catching Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Trichomoniasis, but it cannot protect you from contracting them, even with consistent and correct usage.
"Genital ulcers and HPV infections can occur in both male or female genital areas that are covered or protected by a latex condom, as well as in areas not covered by a latex condom.
It can REDUCE the risk of genital herpes, syphilis, and chancroid ONLY when the infected area or site of potential exposure is protected (by a condom)."
Think I'm playing around with you, I am not. My boyfriend cheated on me several times. He didn't make sure everyone was clean by getting them screened and looking at their paperwork first - he trusted their word on it. I didn't cheat, I was perfectly clean, and I constantly, CONSTANTLY stayed with him. He often told each girl they were his "only" and I not only caught him doing it (without ever telling him I did so) but he admitted it to me before I got strong phyiscal proof and before I called him on it. So, like a sap, I took him back each time. I never once cheated, so when there was an accidental scare for Gonorrhea (found antibiotics he was hiding associated for treating but not curing it), I immediately told some of his past partners, who incidentally either had it before being with him, or had signs of the "infection".
I went to go get screened January 8, 2012. I get my results in tomorrow. What's the scare for, then? ask you. Well, I already got this reporting.
"UTI [Treated] Cervicitis [STD]"
The Urinary Tract Infection I'm not too worried about. I've got 40 pills to take now to get rid of it. You have to take all the pills even if there are no symptoms because with a bacterial infection, you could greatly still be infected without any symptoms and you'd believe you're "cured" when you're not.
Now I've gotta wait to see what STD it is. Cervicitis is usually caused by Gonorrhea (the symptoms I displayed but are also Cervicitis symptoms as well), or Chlamydia. However, it can also be caused by genital Herpes.
